1 clio: for sale

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

I'm not a big fan of Valentine's day.
I'm a BIG fan of love. Obviously.
I don't go out for all that chocolate and teddy bears and ridiculously priced restaurants etc.

But I believe in saying 'I love you'.
A Lot.
On the 14th and on any other day for that matter.

{What better way to say I love you than in a lovely card?}

Do you send Valentine's cards?

Or any other cards for that matter?

I'd love to know :)

P.S Valentines cards available here AND here AND here AND also here! Or direct from me xx

I survived...

with the help of my wonderful mum, my lovely boyfriend and friends Fiona and Hannah.

I love you guys!

It was a really challenging, interesting, worthy, exciting, exhausting and fun experience.
I met lots of lovely people* who loved my cards and even got some commissions which is more than I was expecting and SO flattering!

*and one strange lady who thought my 'we wish you a beary christmas card' said 'beery' and was encouraging people to drink beer... even though there's bears on it, but she bought them anyway!

it's the most wonderful time of the year

To Do:

Count cards.
Order more cards to be printed.
Order more envelopes and cello bags.
Wait for cards to arrive.
Get impatient.
Rejoice when they arrive.
Fold, envelope and pack into cello bags.
Figure out a way of packaging packs of cards and gift tags.
Make wrapping paper.
Panic about not having enough done.
Knit more rectangles.
Make said 'more rectangles' into owls.
Panic again.

That's as far as I can get in my head so far. It's all too exhausting to think about really.

I need to sleep. Or go here:

Around a month ago I entered a competition to win a stall at the National Crafts & Design Fair. These stalls cost a bomb normally but The Irish Times was running a competition for students to put forward proposals in the hopes of winning a stall. A couple of weeks ago I found out that I won!

Since then things have been insane... there is SO much to do. I can't even think about it! I hope it all goes well and it will be a lovely and great. In the meantime I'll try keep updated here as to how things are going.

I made some little owls.

I'm going to open an Etsy shop soon I think... to sell the cards
Not the owls. God no, who'd want to buy my sewing skills? I'm no Maria
But maybe if somebody bought lots of cards they could get an owl too?
Maybe. I don't know. That depends if anyone actually wants to buy them. Ha!

p.s how cool is the mini bicycle? we bought it for my dad years ago, I love it!

I did my first freelance job a couple of weeks ago. It was both exciting and nerve-wracking, which only intensified as I knew the client well and it's always difficult to discuss money, especially if you know them. But I just got over it and kept reminding myself that I was doing a job and that I had to be professional. geeeez.
The job was to design an invitation to the retirement party of an English teacher... and I have to admit the resulting piece has been my favourite owly design so far. (on a side note I can do more than owls... serrrriously I promise!)

I've included some pictures of the finished design and notebook pages of the 'process', if you'd like to see.

sorry about all the blurry bits but ya know... internet freaks and all that.
p.s the quote is from Shakespeare, in case ya didn't know!
