Haven't had a chance to blog all week, college has been busy and so has freelance work AND it's Valentine's day soon so there's cards to be made and printed and packed off for selling. It's all good though so I've got nothing to complain about really!

Last week in college we started learning Illustrator, which is equally frustrating and exciting. My poor eyes have never been so sore... I need  to stop staring at the computer screen and remember to blink every once in a while! Above is my first Illustrator illustration and I've got to admit I quite like it :)

Around a month ago I entered a competition to win a stall at the National Crafts & Design Fair. These stalls cost a bomb normally but The Irish Times was running a competition for students to put forward proposals in the hopes of winning a stall. A couple of weeks ago I found out that I won!

Since then things have been insane... there is SO much to do. I can't even think about it! I hope it all goes well and it will be a lovely and great. In the meantime I'll try keep updated here as to how things are going.

*Are the people you babysit for friends? Since we regularly spend over an hour drinking wine and chatting after they get home I think I'd give that one a yes! I know, I know... one is not meant to return from babysitting drunk! Poor show Clio!

P.S I just went on the Gap website to get the link to this beaut and found this. hello? Where was this when I was a baby? Not in my wardrobe. 

I need my sister to have babies. Soon.

In better news, my boyfriend bought me these bad boys yesterday as a parting gift. Yes! They ARE little tiny owl earrings in a tiny little bottle! He's camping in a tent in Kerry this week :( He's a scout leader, not Bear Grylls.

I did my first freelance job a couple of weeks ago. It was both exciting and nerve-wracking, which only intensified as I knew the client well and it's always difficult to discuss money, especially if you know them. But I just got over it and kept reminding myself that I was doing a job and that I had to be professional. geeeez.
The job was to design an invitation to the retirement party of an English teacher... and I have to admit the resulting piece has been my favourite owly design so far. (on a side note I can do more than owls... serrrriously I promise!)

I've included some pictures of the finished design and notebook pages of the 'process', if you'd like to see.

p.s when my boyfriend was little he thought that all animals said was their name repeatedly.. so an owl wouldn't go 'twit twoo' like most children think of 'owly owly owwl'. hilarious.
