Four More Years

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

Yes, indeed. I think I’d like that. I think he agrees too.

One of my favourites, of which I realise now there are very few. I had to go back to early 2012 to find a photograph (not taken on my iphone with an arm in the way!) of the two of us. This is a polaroid from my birthday last September. Maybe this year we will try and take more photos together. They always make me smile.

I love that I get to navigate along in this world with someone standing beside me, someone who I am honoured to be friends with, proud to support and unbelievably thankful that I get to love. xo

PS…this time 3 years ago

My friends have the best jumpers ever.

Happy NYE friends! Only 25 days late! Ha! I don’t any excuse other than that I am a lazy scanner.

Also, don’t my friends have the loveliest jumpers?

xoxo

PS This is my 300th post. And with it has come with an influx of spam comments (which don’t appear anywhere but send me email notifications anyway…weeeird).

1991

Monday, September 17, 2012

On Saturday I had a party for my birthday. I was kind of nervous before hand and was worried that no one would come, or too many people would come or it would get out of hand. I was jumping to every conclusion possible.

Really though, I need not have worried, I have the best friends one could ever ask for. Everyone embraced the silly theme (1991) with gusto and we had the best night.

Thank you so much for coming out, for giving hugs and kisses and presents and for celebrating with me. I love all of you guys so much. Xo

July Polaroids

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

It is currently dark and raining, and although the weather promises to be sunny and warm tomorrow I can’t help but feel autumn creeping in. The nights are getting longer and the wind is getting chillier. There are back-to-school offers on the shelves and a somewhat fervent panic in the air. I have more than three weeks left before returning to college and am beginning to enjoy the fresh slate that September brings especially as with it comes my 21st birthday. I love the smell of freshly sharpened pencils and the feel of brand new notebooks. I am a nerd, it’s true. Some polaroids to warm your heart on this cold evening, I look back on these photographs fondly, both as if it were yesterday we sitting on the beach and as if it were a lifetime ago. Oh, where did July go?

Polaroid

Polaroids are kind of strange…I consider them the closest the digital photos that I take, but only because they are virtually instantaneous. They are the most unpredictable of photos and sometimes the image refuses to appear at all. But they are also magical. There is something unbelievable (for me anyway) about shooting a photo and then being able to see it and hold it moments later. I love the physicality of it all. I have three packs of film waiting to be used up at my (90’s themed) 21st birthday party.

From top left, clockwise: Eoin, Lily, Lily, Richard & Valerie (the car).

PS The film I used here is Impossible Project 600 Silver Shade film with a black frame
