Colour Love 2 :: Mellow Yellow

Yellow is the most fitting colour for this week. I’ve been editing my way through a photo shoot I did for Gwen in which the colour yellow plays a very prominent role. I’m also preparing to be bridesmaid at my sister’s wedding on Friday in which I may…or may not…be wearing yellow. Shhhh. And yesterday I tie-dyed some teeny tiny babygros for my niece in a pretty shade of sunshine.

So yes, for the week that’s in it, yellow is the colour. Happy Monday friends.

How to Plan the Perfect Hen Party*

*and survive it

On the last Saturday of June we showered my sister with love, embarrassment and alcohol for her hen party. She has three bridesmaids, myself and two friends from different groups. When she first asked us to be part of the wedding party I was the only one based in Dublin, Aisling was in New York and Ruth in London. This coupled with the fact that the three of us all know Aoife in totally different ways was a minor logistical challenge. But we made the most of it. Aisling moved home from New York and Ruth kept up to date via whatsapp and skype.

Happy Birthday to my most favourite sister in the whole world. I can’t believe you are 30! That is seriously old sistah sistah! I love you so much and am so thankful I get to have you forever. I hope you are having the best day ever…and enjoy this roundup of lovely baby photos (note how I avoided all the ones where you look like a boy? If I was you, I would never forgive mum for that horrendous haircut). Happy Happy Happy Birthday Aoife!


PS It’s not your birthday here for another hour and a half but you are in Australia so you have been 30 for 7 and a half hours! Woo!

I went on a date to see Friends with Benefits last night. Despite my preconceptions (Justin Timberlake can't act) it was actually hilarious. So hilarious. And real-apart from the fact that the main characters are total FOXES and live in incredible apartments that is- well as real as Hollywood can get.

ALSO it's set in New York City and if I didn't have a panging desire to go there before (haha I totally did) I certainly do now. I've only been there really in the cold, icy, winter so it would really be amazing to visit when it's hot. I was hoping to, you know, casually, win the lotto and fly out to visit my sister before she left... but she's in Canada now, so maybe next year?

I reaaaaally have to go do some work now. ttfn x

Aoife, today is the fifth day of your adventure. I hope the last few have been restful because the next 28 are going to be intense. I hope your head hits the pillow and is met only with sweet dreams night after night as your body bends and breathes and stretches day after day.

I hope you laugh and cry only from laughing.

I hope you shop and spend and be frivolous but also save and hold back when you know is right.

I wish you adventure but safety (you're precious cargo you know).

I hope you are reckless but not careless.

I hope you think of me when you meet hot backpackers and decline their invitations to roof gardens/knicks games/surf lessons or whatever takes their fancy.

I hope you and Gary are calm in crisis and lighthearted no matter how heavy your rucksacks seem to get.

It will be the longest we have spent apart since I was born. You were 9 then. Already a person when I was not. You were a great sister. You made sure I never wore parachute pants or ridiculous eye shadow or looked like I was trying too hard. Now that I am older I hope I am returning the favour... did anyone say jeggings???

 Although there was this one time you broke all the rules... 

And now you are a great friend. A friend I can give evil eyes to and shout at and fight with and know that at the end of the day you will still be there. The older we get the narrower the gap gets which makes me very happy. You too, I hope.

This is my second favourite photo of us...I couldn't find the one with your hair as my hair :( BUT promise you'll grow your hair long so we can recreate it when you get back?!
