A few weeks ago I gently reminded Eoin how often Rich and I have taken him for brunch in order to cajole him into taking us…he was feeling flush and obliged immediately! We went to one of his favourite places, Noshington’s where I have never been before. I don’t know why it took me so long to go, (the name is a little weird) but I will definitely be going back. I had the best chai latte ever followed by the most delicious smoked salmon on toast dish. It was mouth watering, the perfect size, deliciously dressed with cream cheese on the side. Eoin had the special which was avocado on toast with poached egg and Rich had eggs benedict. We were all equally satisfied. AND they had mini bites of cake to taste beside the till so it felt like we got to eat dessert without actually eating dessert. More places do this please!
I love to eat with you (at Fumbally)
Wednesday, January 29, 2014
I don’t think I could tire of eating here. The food is beautiful, simple, humble but oh so delicious. This time we have brunch, you, the eggs on toast, and I the avocado. My absolute favourite.
Sometimes we talk and sometimes we don’t…the silences are rarely awkward though occasionally I find myself worrying if other people might notice we are saying nothing. It doesn’t matter really. In Fumbally there is so much to look at and listen to. The kitchen is open and the tables are shared. The art on the wall is enviable. It is furnished how I imagine my future home will be; eclectically and emotively, the chosen pieces ooze feeling and story*. It feels like being in a different time and place and yet familiar Dublin resides just outside the door. Haunted by hipsters and suits alike Fumbally does what it does and does it well. You should go.

*even if it was all created intentionally to appeal to a ‘certain crowd’, I really don’t care.
I Love to Eat with You (at Roasted Brown)
Monday, January 20, 2014
We didn’t eat at Roasted Brown as ending up there together was more of an accident and we had both previous eat. He just had coffee and I had sparkling water. I’ll definitely be going back though because there was avocado on toast on the brunch menu and that is my absolute favourite.
They also have this massive blackboard wall and hanging lights that make me happy in the silliest hipsteryest of ways.
I love to eat with you (at Cinnamon)

We get out for breakfast more often than we do lunch or dinner. I don’t like eggs (I’ve tried I just don’t liiiiike the flavour or texture or smell, eggs are weird) and breakfast is all about the eggs so it can be kind of tricky but I usually make do. We’ve been to Cinnamon in Ranelagh a few times, and often my little brother joins us. Sitting in the back of the mini while these two jokers sit in the front being equally ridiculous and hilarious and obnoxious is so much fun.
Cinnamon is cool and the food is delicious, it has a kind of New York, lofty feel and can be either quite bright and breezy (if you sit up the front) or dark and cozy (towards the back). When it first opened the service was terrible and the wait for food was excruciatingly long, thankfully this has been rectified and while the staff aren’t super smiley the service is generally prompt and friendly.
Richard had eggs benedict, Eoin had a breakfast salad and I had a bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. It was divine. We also shared the sage potatoes which were so amazing I attempted to recreate them last night. They weren’t as good so we’ll just have to go back for more soon!
I love to eat with you (at Mayfield)

There is a serious lack of anywhere to eat breakfast in Dundrum if you want to avoid the shopping centre (which you really really do at the weekend, especially at this time of year) and even at that there isn’t really anywhere decent within the monstrosity itself. I have written about Airfield before and while our first experience wasn’t amazing I will definitely give it a second chance…but maybe for lunch, their vegetarian breakfast options weren’t exactly expansive.
A couple of weeks ago Rich and I decided to run out for breakfast, we only had an hour and Mayfield is the first stop on the chain of amazing brunch options between my house and the city centre. He had breakfast pie (which was, evidently, delicious) and I had a cream cheese and smoked salmon bagel. It was nice but my bagel could have been a little warmer. I wish I’d had time to have a look around their little pop up shop but we had to dash. I’ll have to try and get back before it’s gone. Mayfield kind of feels like sitting in your granny’s living room, the chairs don’t match and there are plates on the wall and rugs on the floor. The wallpaper is incredible and the staff are friendly.
Since this date we’ve been out to dinner once…this time of year is so busy that even though we see plenty of each other we’re not really spending any time together (unless watching Homeland behind my fingers next to him on the sofa counts?!). I am looking forward to taking a couple of days off of college work over the two week break and going for a hike, seeing a film and eating lots of good things with this guy.
I love to eat with you (at Airfield)

Airfield reopened its doors this week after a two year refurbishment. We went on Sunday for breakfast. The new building is beautiful, if a little noisy and we were definitely the youngest couple there…the place is more yummy mummy territory than I had anticipated. Children were running around everywhere which I usually wouldn’t mind (at all) but without any soft furnishings to absorb the noise it all felt a little bit loud for a lazy weekend meal.
The food was lovely (the mini milk bottles were too cute not to photograph), the staff were sweet and smiley and I think given a couple of weeks to work out the kinks Overends Cafe will be a lovely local place to eat. The farm is due to open up in stages and I am excited to see the baby Jersey cows and beautiful gardens again.
