Detach.

These are some photographs from my degree show work. I am creating a series of journals about the transient time between adolescence and adulthood. I suppose you could call it a self portrait? But instead of writing about myself I am asking others about themselves. Doing interviews, talking to people I wouldn’t normally talk to, asking questions I wouldn’t normally ask…it’s all been very interesting. The most heart warming of it all has been how willing and open people have been to the project. I have reconnected with people I hadn’t spoken to in years, reached out to acquaintances from past times and relative strangers. There are so many ways to live, so many opinions to have, places to go and people to see. We’re all different. We’re all the same.

  1. I love these. The small touches of others' lives--the socks they wear, the books on windowsills. These are the types of photos that I wish I knew how to take. Because these are the little details that really do make up our lives. They're often the things we remember about others, too. My boyfriend, for instance, always puts his coffee cup on a certain spot of the counter. My mom always has pens and pencils on the coffee table, ready to tackle a sudoku or crossword.
